Amsterdam exists. I know, I've been there. Everything you hear about it is true... It is by far the most liberal place I have ever been to and you see everything there. I used my eurail pass to take the train up on Saturday morning, June 11th, and I met Kevin and many of my friends from Munich at the Central station. First, we walked for about an hour to our hostel, Amsterdam Hostel Centre, and in the meantime got a pretty good street tour and saw most of the canals. Then, we checked out the coffee shops and Dam Square and the other main sites, and headed for a quick walk through the red light district in the evening. The Red Light District is crazy. At night, there are girls who stand in the windows in barely any clothing... It's really sad. We walked down a few streets with the windows and that was about the extent of our Red Light District experience...

The next morning (Sunday), we went on the Heineken experience, took a canal boat tour, and then went to a comedy show at night.

Then on Monday we slept in until we had to check out of our hotel and then met up at Dam Square with Munich friends and went to lunch and looked at an old church before leaving to return home.

Overall, we did a lot of wandering around and a lot of eating :). There were lots of really good pomme frites places and also delicious bakeries. Near the I AMsterdam sign, I ate one of the best waffles of my life. Below is a picture of one of the famous bakeries that we went to and bought overpriced pastries at (but it was worth it).
